- Film backing is tear-resistant and stays flat under sander pressure — it outlasts paper-backed discs on the same surface, especially at fine grits where paper tends to curl and delaminate.
- FF78 47-hole is the universal fit disc — one hole pattern that aligns with every 6" DA sander on the market. Best for P40–P800 filler, primer, and bare metal work.
- FT77 PuroFilm 119-hole has an anti-clog stearate coating and goes to P2000 dry — the right disc for aluminum, fine primer finishing, and high-grit work without switching to wet paper.
- FT77 strips come in two lengths: 7.8" (8-hole) for short hand blocks and tight spots, 16.5" (14-hole) for longboard blocks and panel leveling.
- SpotFix 1-1/4" PSA discs are for individual dust nibs and clear coat spot repair — the only sub-3" film disc in the lineup, 100-pack for production use.
- All film products in this collection are for dry sanding only, except SpotFix which is waterproof and can be used wet.
Film backing changes how a disc behaves at fine grits. Paper-backed discs at P400+ start to curl at the edges and lose flat contact with the surface. Film stays rigid and flat, which means more consistent scratch patterns and less rework. That is the main reason to switch from paper to film at the finishing stages.

From a Customer
"The Adaptive Film Sanding Discs are a game-changer for my shop. The unique hole design not only reduces dust buildup but also allows for faster sanding, which has significantly improved our productivity. These discs last longer and leave a smoother finish than any others we’ve tried. Highly recommend!"

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the advantage of film backing over paper backing?
Film backing is tear-resistant and stays flat under sander pressure throughout the disc life. Paper-backed discs at fine grits (P400+) tend to curl at the edges and lose flat contact with the surface, which creates uneven scratch patterns. Film maintains consistent contact from the first pass to the last, which is why film discs are preferred for primer finishing, aluminum, and any stage where scratch consistency matters. Film also handles edge wear better than paper on curved panels.
What is the difference between the FF78 47-hole and FT77 119-hole disc?
The FF78 47-hole uses a universal hole pattern that fits every 6 inch DA sander without alignment issues. It has an open coat for aggressive cut at P40-P800 on filler, primer, and bare metal. The FT77 119-hole has a higher hole density for maximum dust extraction and an anti-clog stearate coating that prevents aluminum and paint from loading the abrasive. The FT77 goes to P2000 dry, making it the right choice for fine primer finishing, aluminum panels, and high-grit work where disc longevity matters more than cut rate.
Which strip length should I use — 7.8" or 16.5"?
Match the strip to your sanding block. The 7.8 inch strip fits the FastPlus FB1 short hand block and any standard 2.75 inch wide short block - best for edges, door jambs, spot repairs, and tight areas. The 16.5 inch strip fits the FastPlus FB2 longboard block and any standard 2.75 inch wide longboard - best for panel leveling, primer sanding on large flat surfaces, and long edges. Both strips use the same PuroFilm ceramic abrasive and hook-and-loop backing.
Can the FF78 or FT77 discs be used wet?
No. The FF78 and FT77 discs are for dry sanding only. The film backing and hook-and-loop attachment are not rated for wet use. For wet sanding, use the BN38 SiC wet/dry sheets (9x11 inch) which are waterproof and designed for use with water at P800-P2000. The SpotFix 1-1/4 inch PSA discs in this collection are the exception - they are waterproof SiC film and can be used wet or dry for spot repair work.
Does the FF78 47-hole disc fit Festool, Mirka, and DeWalt sanders?
Yes. The 47-hole universal pattern is engineered to align with virtually every 6 inch backing pad configuration on the market, including Festool ETS 150 and RO 150, Mirka DEROS 650CV, DeWalt DWAS150, Bosch GEX 150, Makita BO6030, Porter-Cable 7346, Ridgid R2611, and Milwaukee 2648-20. If you run multiple sander brands in your shop, the FF78 is the one disc SKU that eliminates hole pattern mismatches across all of them.
What grit should I use for primer sanding with film discs?
P220-P320 for standard primer sanding before base coat. Use the FF78 at P220-P320 for fast primer removal and leveling. Use the FT77 at P320-P400 for the final primer sand before base coat where a finer, more consistent scratch pattern is needed. For high-build primer or thick sealer, start at P180 with the FF78 to cut through the build faster, then finish at P320 with the FT77.
How do I use the SpotFix discs for dust nib removal?
Attach a SpotFix disc to a 1-1/4 inch PSA backing plate on a spot polisher (Flex XCE 10-8, Rupes iBrid Nano LHR75E) or use by hand on a small rubber block. Sand only the defect with light pressure to cut the nib flush with the surrounding clear coat. Start at P2000 for larger nibs, P3000 for smaller ones. After cutting flat, blend with P5000 and polish the spot with a foam disc to restore gloss. The PSA backing peels off cleanly with no adhesive residue.
