5 Inch Sanding Discs
Whether you are knocking back primer on a car panel, leveling a hardwood floor, or cleaning up weld scale on steel, a 5 inch hook and loop disc is the workhorse format for most random orbital sanders. FastPlus carries two abrasive lines - ceramic and aluminum oxide - both in 8-hole pattern, both in 50-pack quantities, covering 40 through 800 grit so you can run a complete job from stock removal to finish sanding without switching suppliers.
- All FastPlus 5 inch discs use hook and loop attachment - no PSA peel-and-stick.
- 8-hole pattern fits DeWalt, Makita, Ridgid, and most other 5 inch random orbital sanders.
- Ceramic grain (Blue Line F65) stays sharp longer on hardwood and auto body primer.
- Aluminum oxide (Yellow Line F25) is the right call for general wood sanding, drywall, and light metal.
- Both lines run 40 to 800 grit, so one supplier covers your full sanding sequence.
- 50-pack quantities keep per-disc cost low without overstocking a single grit.

Best Uses for 5 Inch Sanding Discs
Auto Body Prep
Start at 80 grit to feather edges and knock back high spots in primer. Step to 180 for guide coat work, then 320 to 400 before spraying. Ceramic F65 holds its cut through multiple panels without glazing.
Wood Sanding
Ceramic F65 at 80 to 120 grit removes mill marks fast. Switch to aluminum oxide F25 at 180 to 240 for final passes before stain.
Metal Finishing
Use F25 aluminum oxide at 80 to 120 grit to remove scale and surface rust, then step through 240 to 400 for a clean surface before primer or coating.
How to Choose the Right 5 Inch Disc
Grit
Start two grits coarser than you think you need, then step up. For paint prep, 80 to 180 to 320 is a reliable three-step sequence. For bare wood before stain, 120 to 180 to 240 is usually enough.
Hole Pattern
Both FastPlus 5 inch lines use an 8-hole pattern fitting DeWalt (DWE6421, DWE6423), Makita (BO5030, BO5041), Ridgid, and most other brands. DeWalt and Makita are registered trademarks of their respective owners. FastPlus discs are compatible replacement products not affiliated with or endorsed by those brands.
Abrasive Type
| Line | Abrasive | Best For | Not Ideal For |
|---|---|---|---|
| Blue Line F65 | Ceramic | Hardwood, auto body primer, high-volume work | Non-ferrous metals, occasional light use |
| Yellow Line F25 | Aluminum Oxide | General wood, drywall, light metal, soft materials | Extended hardwood or auto body runs |
