The 47-hole layout is designed to provide adequate dust extraction on any 6 inch backing pad — Festool, Mirka, Rupes, DeWalt, Bosch, Makita, or any other brand. The FF78 also has a grit that no other FastPlus 6 inch disc carries: 500G. For automotive clear coat work, 500G sits between 400G orange peel removal and 600G pre-compound refinement — useful when the 400G scratch pattern is too coarse for 600G to remove cleanly in one step, or when you want a finer surface before compound without going all the way to 600G.

Why does the FF78 have 500G when no other FastPlus 6 inch disc does?
500G fills a real gap in the automotive clear coat sanding sequence. After 400G removes orange peel, some surfaces have a scratch pattern that is too coarse for 600G to remove cleanly in one step — especially on single-stage urethane or older clear coat.
