It is not optimized for any single sander — it provides reasonable extraction on all of them. If you use one specific sander brand consistently, a pattern-matched disc (49H for Festool-pattern, 119H for Mirka-pattern) will give better extraction. Why does the FF78 have 500G when no other FastPlus 6 inch disc does?
500G fills a real gap in the automotive clear coat sanding sequence. After 400G removes orange peel, some surfaces have a scratch pattern that is too coarse for 600G to remove cleanly in one step — especially on single-stage urethane or older clear coat. A 500G step between 400G and 600G removes the 400G scratches more efficiently and leaves a surface that 600G refines quickly. The FF78 is the only FastPlus 6 inch disc that carries 500G. Is the FF78 compatible with Festool ETS 150?
Yes — the FF78 47H will attach to a Festool ETS 150 backing pad and provide reasonable dust extraction. However, the F65 49H is pattern-matched to the Festool ETS 150 pad and will provide better extraction. If you use a Festool ETS 150 exclusively, the F65 49H is the better choice.
